If you haven't seen me lately, it's for good reason, I have essentially become a hermit, holed up in my studio for months now, working on my newest passion, Goosed Up Rhymes, an interactive reader app for the iPad. And although this truely is a labor of love, labor is the key word! I had no idea how hard it was going to be to transition to a new industry. I thought my experience in the entertainment world would automatically work with this new technology - but my partner Joe Spadaford and I soon found out that nothing is easy when you're building a whole new kind of app! Our vision of creating a fully animated reader app based on the Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes proved to be a gigantic headache to run on the iPad's limited resources (that is a huge understatement), and about three months into our escapade, we began to wonder if this project was even doable. Luckily for us, we managed to find a way to run our beautiful artwork (and hilarious gags) in a form that the iPad was able to handle. Our biggest challenge now is creating the assets fast enough! The learning curve has been steep, and our stress levels have been rising along with the stakes, but once we got the engineering right, there is no way to describe the feeling of euphoria at seeing our app come to life! I will be sharing more images from the book in future posts, so keep tuned in for our updates. Until then, have a hilarious day!!!
